The Sporting project stands out for its refined reinterpretation of historical elements in a contemporary context. The colonnade surrounding the outdoor pool is not just a reference to ancient architecture but a direct homage to the Aquileian Forum, enriched with the irony typical of postmodernism. This combination of ancient and modern, sacred and profane, is one of the most fascinating stylistic features of this project.

The Sporting also includes a building, originally clad in wooden slats, featuring a majestic transparent dome. The uniqueness of this dome, constructed from an exposed metal framework, lies in its ability to harmoniously integrate with the surrounding environment while offering a modern take on architectural space. The dome’s transparency allows natural light to flow freely, creating an effect of openness and lightness.

Wood is a recurring element in the nearby Terramare residences, designed by Gianfranco Torossi. In these residences, wide ribbon-like wooden windows blend with the modern structure, striking a balance between tradition and innovation.

The engineering of the entire marina, which includes both the Sporting and the Terramare residences, was managed by the Conti e Associati studio, a team that has successfully combined construction technique with a bold and innovative aesthetic vision. Their expertise has resulted in a complex that not only meets functional needs but also presents itself as a work of architectural art.

This project is a perfect example of how postmodernism can reinterpret and update elements of the past, offering stylistic and engineering solutions that look to the future without losing the charm of history.
