Stabilimenti balneari (1955-1956) Gianni Avon

Lignano Sabbiadoro - lungomare Trieste

Biblioteca del Comune di Lignano Sabbiadoro

Only three of the fifteen beach establishments commissioned by the Tourism Company will be constructed. They feature a distinctive design with a central circular body resembling a mushroom, from which two lateral wings of cabins extend towards the sea at an angle of 120°.

The inverted, elevated, and protruding roofs are characterized by the use of prefabricated elements supplied by the Ursella company. The establishments' structures, clear and functional, are highlighted by the sober and meticulous use of simple materials such as exposed concrete and solid and hollow brick.

Lignano Pineta: An Urban and Architectural Revolution (1947-1959)

After World War II, Italy's reconstruction accelerated tourist development, with a particular focus on housing needs. In Lignano, designers carried forward the results of the debate on housing, advancing an experimental architectural culture. The Lignano Pineta plan, drafted by Marcello D'Olivo, was a fundamental act of urban regeneration, marked by a new urbanistic and architectural mindset that redefined the relationships between man, nature, and architecture.
