Hotel Riviera (1956-1958) Arturo Alberto Guerello e Flaminio Bini (modificato)

Lignano Pineta - arco del Grecale, 4-6

Lignano Pineta, Görlich editore, Milano

The building in question, designed by two Genoese architects specializing in naval furniture design, features an imposing structure divided into three blocks. Two of these blocks rise seven stories high and culminate in a panoramic terrace, while the third, lower block aligns with the street and comprises two floors.

A distinctive feature of the building is the way the taller sections join at an angle, creating triangular-shaped terraces on the sloping side. This unique composition imparts a figurative identity to the building's facades. Originally designed as a luxury hotel, the structure has since been converted into apartments.

The architecture of the building reflects the designers' naval experience, evident in the meticulous attention to detail and spatial arrangement. The transformation from a hotel to apartments may have preserved some of the original structure's distinctive elements, contributing to the unique character of the residences that now occupy it.

Lignano Pineta: An Urban and Architectural Revolution (1947-1959)

After World War II, Italy's reconstruction accelerated tourist development, with a particular focus on housing needs. In Lignano, designers carried forward the results of the debate on housing, advancing an experimental architectural culture. The Lignano Pineta plan, drafted by Marcello D'Olivo, was a fundamental act of urban regeneration, marked by a new urbanistic and architectural mindset that redefined the relationships between man, nature, and architecture.
